Location:
Finca La Maya is located slightly more than one hour west of Panama City, near the town of San Carlos on the Pacific Coast.
Air Travel: When traveling by air, visitors generally arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). Continental, Delta, Copa Airlines, American Airlines and others all have direct flights from major cities in the U.S. - particularly from Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Miami. Contact a travel agent to find the most convenient flights to and from your destination. Finca La Maya can, if requested, provide transportation for participants from PTY to the finca. When planning your itinerary for Panama, consider all the other fabulous things to do in Panama… you may want to plan a longer stay!
Driving directions to Finca La Maya
Motorists: Driving directions to Finca La Maya
From Panama City: Drive southwest on PanAmerican highway (”autopista”) for approximately one hour 10 minutes to San Carlos (depending on traffic). Continue past the main street turnoff for San Carlos, up the hill then, turn RIGHT onto a small paved road immediately after Carlitos Pizza restaurant. In 30 seconds, you'll see a house on a corner, with a yellow and white wall around it. Turn RIGHT at that corner. Continue on this tiny paved road, it will curve around, you'll pass a baseball field on the right, and then come to a stop sign (alto).
Bear to far RIGHT after the STOP sign. Continue straight on this road for 2-3 minutes. You will see a short 3 foot high white concrete cross on the LEFT. Immediately before that white cross, bear LEFT, leaving the hard paved road for a dirt one. Continue another minute straight ahead until you see bright tangerine color walls and a double gate. This is the entrance to “Hacienda La Maya” which is clearly indicated on the wall on the left side of the gate. You’ve arrived!
From El Valle turnoff: Drive toward Panama City on the PanAmerican highway. Before the village San Carlos, you see restaurant Carlitos on your left, and a road just before this restaurant. Turn to this road. In 60 seconds you see a house with a yellow wall. Go RIGHT. Continue this paved road, all the way to a stop sign (alto). You see a baseball field on the right.
